At about 12:40 on June 21, 2023, a particularly serious gas explosion occurred at the Fuyang Barbecue Restaurant in Xingqing District, Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, killing 31 people and injuring 7 others. On June 24, Yinchuan Public Security Bureau Xingqing District branch issued a police notice saying that after investigation, the barbecue shop head Hai (dead) and staff Li Miao (dead) violated the relevant safety management regulations and replaced the pressure reducing valve connected with the liquefied gas tank without approval, resulting in the rapid leakage of liquefied gas in the tank, causing an explosion.
